OBEY: The Film

edited by O Society May 24, 2019

This 2013 film, OBEY by British filmmaker, Temujin Doran is based on the book, Death of the Liberal Class by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Chris Hedges.

This film about you, me, and the routine of obedience. It is an attempt to show what it means to be obedient at a time in which our habits shape a world into one in which we will no longer wish to live.

It explores the rise of the corporate state and the future of obedience in a world filled with unfettered capitalism, worsening inequality, and environmental change.

The film predominantly focuses on US corporate capitalism; however, the author hopes the viewer can recognize the relevance of what is being expressed with regards to domestic political and corporate activity. The film is made completely of clips found on the web.
