VooDoo Accident Down at the Forge (Musical Interlude)

by O Society August 18, 2019

There’s an old story of this monk called Bodhidharma. Story goes like this:

Once Upon A Time, Bodhidharma came upon a monastery in China, so he decided to stop awhile to teach the monks about Buddhism. They did a bunch of sitting staring at the wall for nine years in a cave, like so:

Bodhidharma

Now don’t let the 9 years bother you. It’s a story. Not literal. Anyway, people still do this sitting staring at the wall stuff now too, only it’s called meditation. And you have to do it for a lot longer than 9 years to get it right. So…

As you might expect, sitting for long periods of time trying to get your mind right may not be so great for your body. There’s a word for that too. It’s called asceticism. Ahem…

So the story goes the monks in China were in such bad shape, falling asleep, never moving, no exercise, little food or drink, etc. it was a bit pitiful to witness. Sick Man of Asia. So Bodhidharma invented this Only 3 Easy Payments of $19.95 Spiritual Exercise plan he called “Kung Fu.” You know, to get chicks. Sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll.

Read all about it here: Bodhidharma and the Beginnings of Kung Fu

Or instead of read about it or practice it yourself, you could do the All-American thing of just sit there and watch a TV show about it on television and see a story of somebody else doing it all for you on the big screen TeeVee, like so:

Freedom of choice and so on. Maybe its all an illusion. Hell, I dunno! Thing is…

I’ll have to come back and finish the anecdotal part of this story. Generally, I don’t share much personal info here on O Society, but will do a bit of sharing in the next post. You’ll see what I mean soon, grasshoppers. Leave the train of thought running.

Until then, here’s some VooDoo…

I’m not the one who’s so far away
When I feel the snake bite enter my veins
Never did I want to be here again
And I don’t remember why I came
Candles raise my desire
Why I’m so far away
No more meaning to my life
No more reason to stay
Freezing feeling, breathe in, breathe in
I’m coming back again
I’m not the one who’s so far away
When I feel the snake bite enter my veins
Never did want to be here again
And I don’t remember why I came
Hazing clouds rain on my head
Empty thoughts fill my ears
Find my shade by the moon light
Why my thought aren’t so clear
Demons dreaming, breathe in, breathe in
I’m coming back again
I’m not the one who’s so far away
When I feel the snake bite enter my veins
Never did want to be here again
And I don’t remember why I came
I’m not
